Interestingly, in my online (=ingame, not the NCsoft store on a browser) store, I can select American Express, MasterCard, Visa, as well as Carte Bancaire and Card Bleue. And although I honor the ancient, common roots with them... I'm not french.

That leads me to the question, gaile, may we dutch get maestro? Pretty pretty plz?

And us in Germany too? I mean, while almost no-one I know has a credit card, almost everyone I know has a maestro debit card.

Lots of confusion in this thread.
But the poll is really bad designed.
I dont have a cc and never used paypal.
I would buy a couple of character slots if the paying methods didnt exclude me.
So, if the poll was "Would you buy online if there were different methods pay, like paypall?", then I would gladly say yes.
Now, this thread seems a Credit Card vs Paypall thing, with some people saying that anet shouldnt add (sic) paypall because they dislike it or because they can use other paying methods.

Due to the issues I had in the past with the in game store I wouldn't use my CC again in it. I have a paypal account which I use online whenever I can as it saves me giving out my cc details. I'm aware that paypal charge fees but for large business users they aren't that much higher than credit card merchant fees.
I've read above that the plaync site takes the paysafecard which after checking out seems like a fantastically simple idea with very little chance for fraud, why not use that, or at least stock the 'add on's on the plaync site store?

I would use Paypal for the simple reason that I always get an error when trying to purchase on the ingame store with my portuguese credit card.

PlayNC Online Code Purchase: Accepted Means of payment
Answer
The following means of payment are accepted for online serial code/access key purchases from PlayNC:
.
* Switch / Maestro (UK only)
.
.
* Paysafecard (Germany, Austria, Greece, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain and the UK)
|
aside from the obvious question, why Maestro is UK only..
why is there no option for this "Paysafecard " in the ingame shop?

UPDATE:
I might get PayPal when ANet puts in more goods to buy in the shop. The main games I will still buy in regular shops for the physical goodies, but why should I not buy some game of the year weapons etc? I can't buy them now because no credit card.

It amazes me that a company would restrict its customer’s payment methods like this at all.
By all means add PayPal.
I would also add a ‘continent’ postal address for cheque payments etc… as well.
Give as many options to all your customers as possible and not penalise those that do not have/want just the payment methods that you currently offer.
You may just see more people using the online shop then!

Interesting, that means that list isn't totally acurate, because I also have those french cards. I thought only dutch people had them because we're so small

It's starting to look like everyone that I know of in continental Europe is presented with the same list of options: AmEx, Visa, MC, Carte Bancaire, Carte Blue. Perhaps tied to our shared currency?

i like some people hate putting their card details out online.

I'd rather not pay any "Paypal Tax" to Paypal/Ebay, these guys already make enough money skimming off the top as it is.

1. There is nothing unusual here, they all try to cover themselves.
2. This thread isn't made to discuss the liablility of paypall.
3. Never put to much money in something that can be unreliable, rule 1 of the internet

Do you agree that 350 pounds is a reasonable minimum(!!!!!) estimate?
They will fine you with 350 pounds no matter how little the offense was. That is way too much.
